environmental policy

our materials and manufacturing processes are not inherently eco-friendly

but we are trying, wherever possible, to minimise our impact on the environment

our current policy includes

recycling
we re-use around 90% of our manufacturing materials. (the only thing that we throw away is MDF sawdust and tiny scraps... do you any ideas how we might be able to use it?)

we buy only recycled paper, and all waste paper from our offices is first re-used, then recycled.

our UK customers return their transit boxes and packaging for us to re-use... again and again. we are looking for eco-friendly alternatives to polystyrene sheet and bubble wrap (any suggestions?)

green energy
100% off our energy (lighting, heating and machinery) is provided by electricity from renewable sources.

we keep our workshop cool and advocate wearing an extra jumper!

where possible, we have fitted low voltage lighting.

our telephone + broadband services are provided by the phone co-op

buy quality that lasts
our furniture is made to last a lifetime... or longer! forget cheap, semi-disposable furniture that has to be scrapped after a just few years. we believe in producing high quality handmade items - the antiques of the future!

 

 

 

future plans

new designs
our imaginations being willing ( ! ) we will develop a range of furniture, made from recycled waste products

FSC sustainable timber
a small proportion of our timber currently comes from FSC accredited sources. we are pressing our timber suppliers to increase their range of FSC accredited timber, with the ultimate aim that all timber should come from sustainable and responsibly managed sources.
